Vocations
Awareness is a subcommittee of Spiritual Life and Adult Education.
This subcommittee is currently under review, with recommendations
to be made at the 2010 Annual General Meeting,
The responsibilities
of this committee are to educate parishioners on the four vocations:
- Religious
sister or brother
- Ordained
priesthood
- Married life
- Single lay person
Activities which
stimulate discussion and thought on this topic are promoted in the
parish.
"The whole Christian community shares the responsibility for
fostering vocations. The first step is to live in a full Christian
manner. Families with a lively spirit of faith, love and reverence
contribute greatly to this work. Spiritually active parishes, where
people take a full part, help to promote vocations." (from
the CCCB Ordo, 2008-09)
Vocations Awareness
week is usually held in April.
In 2009, World Day of Prayer for Vocations was Sunday, May 3.
The Archdiocese website, Vocations
section also has more information.
Parish Council
representative for Vocations is to be elected during the odd years.
